LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team grabbed its first NACC win of the season on a 1-0 win over Concordia University Chicago. Rockford secured its first win over Concordia Chicago since 2018 in a similar 1-0 win. The Regents dominated the game all around, leading in shots 13-8, saves 3-2, and also corner kicks 7-3.
Javier Palacios gave the Regents the lead in the 32nd minute of the game on a pass from
Christopher Sanchez, making the score 1-0. Rockford also had to play a man down for the last 8 minutes of the match, but were able to hold on to get the victory 1-0.
- The Regents had a chance to get the game started in their favor early on a shot by Javier Palacios just over a minute into the game, but his chance would be denied by Concordia Chicago goalkeeper Joseph Perez.
- Rockford tried to push the agenda again on shots by Christopher Sanchez and Abraham Gonzalez that would both end up wide of the net.
- The Cougars threatened in the 29th minute on a shot by Garrett Poynter, but it was saved by Regent goalkeeper Andrik Vidaurri.
- Rockford would finally find the back of the net in the 31st minute on a header goal by Javier Palacios, assisted by Christopher Sanchez to put the Regents up 1-0.
- The Regents tried to add on just before the end of the first half with a shots from Christopher Sanchez and Ian Jurgenson, but both were unsuccessful.
- Concordia Chicago tried to equalize the game in the 56th minute on a shot by Garrett Poynter, but his chance was saved again by Andrik Vidaurri.
- The Regents tried to boost their lead with shots from Brandon Wilterdink, Baruani Kamangila, and Abraham Gonzalez, but unfortunately none of those attempts were successful.
- Concordia Chicago had a chance to tie the game up playing with an extra man and they fired shots from Brandon Arias and Elias De Santiago, but the Regent defense was able to hold them off to secure the win 1-0, making the Regents 1-0 to start NACC matchups.
