LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford men's soccer team picked up its second straight win in NACC play, to move the Regents to 2-0 and into a tie for first place. The match remained scoreless until the 87th minute when
Abraham Gonzalez scored his second goal of the season to give the Regents a 1-0 lead. The Warriors were unable to get a shot on net the remainder of the match, as the Regents held on for their second consecutive 1-0 win.
- The Regents tried to get things going early on a shot by Raul Martinez just 2 minutes into the match, but his shot was go wide.
- WLC would quickly respond to this with 2 shots of their own, but both chances were saved by Andrik Vidaurri, who was a tough man to beat in this match.
- Both teams would trade some more shots in the first half, but the goalkeepers were there to play and did not allow anything to find the back of the net.
- Javier Palacios tried to get the Regents on the board with 2 shots at the Warrior net, but they both ended up wide.
- WLC fired a shot in the 56th minute, but it ended up wide, keeping the game 0-0.
- Javier Palacios again tried to find the back of the net off of a shot in the 65th minute, but it was saved by the Warrior goalkeeper.
- WLC and Rockford continued to trade shots back and forth without any ending successful.
- The scoreless tie would finally be broken on a wild goal from Abraham Gonzalez, assisted by Nolan Beard, which put the Regents up 1-0 with only a few minutes remaining in the match.
- The Warriors threatened one more time with a shot in the 89th minute, but it ended up too high and the Regents were able to hold on to the victory 1-0.
