RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team fell 2-1 on the road Wednesday afternoon to Concordia University Chicago. Rockford actually held an 11-9 edge in total shots; however, the Cougars had a commanding 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. CUC struck first with a goal in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The score remained unchanged until the 83rd minute, when
Daisy Martinez found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Unfortunately, CUC scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal 88th minute for the 2-1 victory.
- Concordia Chicago broke the scoreless tie in the 17th minute when Valeria Fernandez scored from 15 yards out in the top right corner of the net.Â
- Rockford had six total shots in the first half, but only one came on goal, and the Regents entered the break trailing 1-0.Â
- The score remained unchanged for the majority of the second half, as CUC continued to cling to a 1-0 lead.
- Rockford's Daisy Martinez then scored her third goal of the season in 83rd minute off an excellent cross into the box from Jasmine Landberg.Â
- Unfortunately, the Cougars' Julianna Paulsen scored what turned to the be the game-winning goal on a bit of a chaotic play, which resulted in an empty net goal in the 88th minute of the match.
