LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team dropped the home opener against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 2-0. The Regents did have the advantage in saves, with a four save performance by
Andrik Vidaurri, but unfortunately had a slow day offensively getting out-shot by the Warhawks 14-5. The Warhawks found the back of the net in the 8th and 41st minute of the match, creating an uphill battle for the Regents for the rest of the game, which ultimately led to Whitewater walking away with the victory.
- The Warhawks tried to get the scoring started off early with two shots before the 4th minute, one going wide and the other being saved by Rockford goalkeeper Andrik Vidaurri
- Whitewater was given a throw in on the Rockford side of the field and they capitalized finding Jacob Mouile who broke the scoreless tie to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute, he was assisted twice on the play, one by Adam Kaup and the other to Fionnbhar Hartnett.
- The Regents were able to put up their first shot on goal in the 39th minute on a shot by Abraham Gonzalez, but it was saved by the Warhawk goalie and the Regent threat was denied.
- Whitewater would find the back of the net again a few minutes later on a goal by Owen Winegar, which put the Warhawks up 2-0 just before the half.
- The Regents threatened in the second half with shots from Abraham Gonzalez, Bennett Abler, and Andrew Roth, but could not break through.
- The Warhawks would hold on in the second half and unfortunately the Regents would fall to them 2-0.
