DE PERE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team won 67-59 on the road Wednesday night, to earn its first ever victory against St. Norbert College. Rockford played one of its best games of the season, leading for a total of 34 minutes and 42 seconds. The Regents shot 40.4% from the floor and a season-high 81.8% at the free throw line. Defensively, the Regents held the Green Knights to a measly 29.9% shooting, which was only 0.1% off their season-low performance at Carthage. The win moves the Regents into a tie for 8th place in the NACC and also for the final spot in the NACC Tournament.
- The Green Knights hit three of their first four shot attempts to open up a quick 7-2 lead less than two minutes into the game.
- Fortunately, Rockford responded with a 12-2 run, capped off by a D'Asia Washington jumper in the paint, to grab a 14-9 advantage. Five different Regents scored over that span, led by three points each from Lexi Keating and Nia Wilkerson.
- St. Norbert pulled back to within one, but Nia Wilkerson scored Rockford's final five points of the period, including a triple on the Regents' final possession, to put RU out in front 19-15.
- Rockford would push its lead to as many as eight, following a 6-0 spurt late in the second quarter. Audrina Terhune got things started with a jumper, and Kennedy Gaddis drained a pair of free throws to give the Regents a 32-24 lead.
- The Green Knights however were able to fight their way back to within two points at the 3:13 mark in the third quarter.
- Fortunately, Rockford outscored St. Norbert 6-1 the remainder of the period, to take a 53-46 lead into the fourth. The Regents missed just two shots over the final 2:45, with Audrina Terhune scoring Rockford's final four points of the quarter.
- St. Norbert again made things close midway through the fourth quarter, when the Green Knights scored three straight points to get back to within two at 55-53.
- However, Rockford answered right back with eight straight points, all by Audrina Terhune, to take a ten point lead with a minute left. Terhune was a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor over that span.
- The Green Knights were able to trim Rockford's advantage back down to four with 40 seconds left, but fortunately, Nia Wilkerson went a perfect 4-for-4 at the free line to seal the Regents' 67-59 win.
- Audrina Terhune scored a season and game-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting. She also added 2 assists and 2 rebounds.
- Nia Wilkerson finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 1 steal off the bench.
- D'Asia Washington added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals off the bench.
