PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team picked up a critical 86-65 road win on Wednesday evening against Lakeland University. The Regents absolutely dominated the game from start to finish, as they trailed for a total of just 2 minutes and 14 seconds. Rockford scorched the nets all night long, shooting a season-high 55.4%, while also holding Lakeland to a season-low 36.8% shooting performance. The win gives the Regents a split of the season series and moves Rockford into sole possession of sixth place in the NACC.
- The Regents jumped out to a 12-5 advantage, thanks in large part to an 8-0 run. Rockford's Matthew Elliott and Jaden Bell knocked down a pair of triples to bookend the run and give the Regents a seven-point lead.
- Rockford continued to put the heat on the Muskies, using yet another 8-0 spurt, to take a 20-7 lead at the 13:20 mark. Matthew Elliott continued his hot shooting by draining his second three-pointer of the night, and Micah Swanson capped off the run with a three-point play.
- The Regents built their lead up to as many as 21 points following a Micah Swanson layup late in the half, before taking a 45-28 edge into the intermission.
- The result of the game was never in doubt at any point in the second half. Rockford quickly pushed its lead back to 20 points after a Micah Swanson dunk less than 3 minutes into the period.
- The Regents never took their foot off the gas throughout the second half, leading by as many as 31 points midway through the period.
- Lakeland did not get any closer than 20 the rest of the way, as Rockford coasted to an easy 86-65 victory.
- Micah Swanson poured in a season-high 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He also added 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists.
- Matthew Elliott tallied his first double-double as a Regent. Elliott finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block.
- Kevin Diemer had 13 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.
- Noody Lacey added 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist.
