ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team picked up a big 74-62 win in a Saturday afternoon NACC showdown with the Dominican University Stars. Rockford was in control basically the entire game, leading for a total of 39 minutes and 17 seconds and never once trailed. The Regents were also able to grab a large advantage in second chance points 16-6, which helped them to stay ahead in the game. Defensively, Rockford held the Stars to just 38.1% shooting on the day, their third worst mark of the season. Rockford now moves into a tie for 5th place in the NACC standings, with the top 8 set to qualify for the NACC tournament.
- The Regents got out to a quick 6-0 lead with back-to-back triples from Kevin Diemer and Matthew Elliott.
- Dominican was able to battle back to a 12-10 deficit with 12:39 left in the first half.
- Rockford was able to maintain their lead and find its way to a 19-13 score after a layup from Donovan Grunloh.
- Each team traded points, until the Regents got their largest advantage in the half, after a three from Matthew Elliott to make it a 9-point, 28-19 lead.
- The Stars got three to cut the lead to just 3 points going into the half, but Rockford went into halftime with a 32-29 lead.
- The Regents went on a quick 11-2 run to start the second half and take a 43-31, in a stretch where Rockford was 5-8 from the field.
- The Regents were able to maintain a 3-4 possession lead and the game found its way to a 52-40 score after a three-pointer from Matthew Elliot.
- The Stars were able to battle back to within 3 points, with 2 minutes to go, but Jaden Bell would bury a three-pointer, followed by Noody Lacey with one of his own to make it a 69-62 game with 35 seconds to go.
- The Regents were able to bury multiple attempts from the charity stripe and ice the game en route to a 74-62 win.
- Noody Lacey poured in 18 points on 8-14 shooting, also picking up 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist.
- Jaden Bell finished with 18 points as well, with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.
- Kevin Diemer had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block.
