ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's basketball team won 61-51 at home on Wednesday night to earn its first home win of the season against the Lakeland University Muskies. Rockford was in control from the tip-off, leading the game for 36 minutes and 19 seconds. The Regents also had a large advantage in three-point percentage 37.5% - 11.8% and connected 5 more threes than the Muskies. The biggest difference in the game was a huge 19-0 run that came in the second quarter for Rockford and allowed them to take control of the game. Rockford never looked back after this and took an important win that creeps them closer to a potential spot in the NACC tournament with the top 8 set to qualify.
- The game started out close with a 5-4 Rockford lead after a layup from Grace Vyborny.
- Rockford went on a slight 7-3 run to take a 12-7 lead after a three-pointer from Nia Wilkerson with 3:51 left in the first quarter.
- The Muskies were able to battle back and make it a 15-12 Rockford lead after the first quarter.
- Lakeland scored the first 4 points of the second quarter to take a quick 16-15 lead.
- The Regents then took control of the game with a 19-0 run, a stretch Rockford shot 7-11 (63.6%) from the field and 5-6 (83.3%) from three-point range, led by Nia Wilkerson with 6 points.
- Lakeland was able to stop the scoreless run with a layup with 5 seconds left in the half and Rockford took a 34-20 lead into the half.
- Rockford picked up right where they left off, scoring the first 6 points of the third quarter to make it a 40-20 game with 8:23 left in the quarter.
- The Regents were able to maintain their 10-point advantage for the rest of the quarter and find their way to a 52-36 lead with one quarter to go.
- Rockford went on a quick 7-2 run to start the fourth quarter and take a 59-38 lead.
- The Regents continued to keep the distance between themselves and the Muskies and despite a late effort by Lakeland, Rockford was able to secure a 61-51 win.
- Nia Wilkerson had a new season-high 17 points, also grabbing 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
- Grace Vyborny had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
- Tyra Clark had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
- Audrina Terhune had 5 points and a season-high 7 assists.
