FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team fell 5-0 on the road Saturday afternoon at Marian University. Although the final score ended up heavily in Marian's favor, the Regents were right there with Marian throughout the first half. Rockford entered the break trailing just 1-0 on an own goal, before the Marian attack erupted for four second half goals to seal the Sabre victory.
- The first half was the definition of a defense struggle with neither team able to find its rhythm offensively.
- Rockford University keeper Kaeleigh Taylor was absolutely outstanding over the first 45 minutes. Taylor made 7 saves in the period to help keep her team in the match.
- Unfortunately, it was a miscue on the defensive end by the Regents that resulted in an own goal and a 1-0 Sabre lead heading into the break.
- The Marian offense then exploded in the second half with four goals by four different players. Ashley York essentially put the match out of reach with her first goal of the season in the 55th minute. The Sabres added insurance goals in the 68th, 82nd and 86th minutes en route to the 5-0 win.
