LISLE, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw on the road Wednesday afternoon at Benedictine University. The first goal of the match did not come until the 50th minute when the Eagles took a 1-0 lead. Rockford then answered in the 83rd minute when
Mia Ostler knocked in a rebound off a free kick to give the Regents a 1-1 draw with the Eagles. The tie snapped a 14-match losing streak against Benedictine dating all the way back to the 2006 season.
- The first half of the match was a defensive struggle for the Regents and Eagles with neither team able to break the scoreless tie.
- Rockford University goalie Kaeleigh Taylor recorded five saves over the opening 45 minutes, while Benedictine had one save as the match entered halftime tied at 0-0.
- Unfortunately, Benedictine was able to break the scoreless tie less than five minutes into the second half. Alaina Hernandez found the lower right corner of the net in the 50th minute to put the Eagles out in front 1-0.
- Despite allowing the one goal, Kaeleigh Taylor kept the Regents within striking distance over the remainder of the match. Taylor tallied five more saves over the next 30 minutes to keep it a one-goal match.
- Rockford had an excellent scoring opportunity in the 83rd minute off a free kick from 30 yards out. Bianca Tovar hit the crossbar off the free kick and Mia Ostler was right there to knock the rebound into the lower half of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
- There were just three shots combined the remainder of the way, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
