APPLETON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team fell 79-58 on the road Friday night to the Lawrence University Vikings. Rockford struggled to find its rhythm in both in the first and third quarters, as the Regents were outscored by a combined 20 points in the two periods. Conversely, it was just a one-point differential between the two schools in the second and fourth quarters combined. The Vikings really took advantage of their depth throughout the game. Lawrence played 16 different players, 11 of them logging at least 10 minutes, leading to a huge 30-13 advantage in bench points. The Vikings also held a 24-12 edge in points off turnovers, a 34-18 lead in points in the paint and a 20-2 advantage in fast break points.
- There was just one tie in the game (2-2) and the Regents never led the entire night.Â
- The Vikings scored six straight points midway through the first to take an early 13-4 advantage.Â
- Lawrence extended its lead to as many as 13 points at the 2:16 mark before ultimately taking a 23-11 edge heading into the second quarter.Â
- Unfortunately, the Vikings opened the second quarter on a 10-3 run to take their largest lead of the half at 33-14.Â
- However, Rockford was able to slowly chip away at the deficit and got it back down to single-digits with only 15 seconds left before halftime. The Regents outscored the Vikings 16-6 over a span of 5 minutes and 54 seconds, capped off by a Lexi Keating layup, to make it a 39-30 game.Â
- The Vikings subsequently got a last second layup and made free throw to push their lead back up to 42-30 heading into the break.
- Lawrence continued to control the game throughout the second half. The Vikings lead by as many as 20 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth, before ultimately going on to win by a final score of 79-58.
- Jocelyn Callahan scored a team-high 14 points and made 4-of-8 shots from beyond the arc. She also added a team-high 6 rebounds and 2 assists.Â
- Lexi Keating finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
- D'Asia Washington was the final Regent hit to hit double-figures in scoring. Washington added 10 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.
