BELOIT, Wis. - The Rockford University men's basketball team earned its second double digit win of the season on Wednesday night with a 74-62 victory at Beloit College. The Regents were once again in control for the vast majority of the evening. Rockford led for a resounding 34 minutes and 53 seconds and by as many as 19 points, while the Buccaneers' largest lead was just two points and they only out in front for a total of 1 minute and 18 seconds. Two of the biggest differences in the game were Rockford's ability to convert Beloit's turnovers into points and to get to and convert at the free throw line. The Regents held a commanding 23-11 advantage in points off turnovers and made 15-of-19 free throws, compared to just 8-of-16 for the Bucs. Rockford has now won four straight against Beloit and eight of the last nine meetings.
- Rockford scored the first six points of the game, led by five straight from Jaden Bell, to grab the early lead.
- The Bucs were able to battle back with an 11-3 run to take their first lead of the evening at 11-9.
- With Beloit clinging to a two-point lead at 17-15, the Regents scored the next 16 points to seize control of the game and force the Bucs to call a timeout. Daeshawn Jackson scored 9 points over that span, including draining one of his three triples to begin the run.
- However, Beloit would score the next seven points to chop the RU lead in half, but Rockford pushed its lead back up to ten on a Daeshawn Jackson basket in the closing seconds to give his team a 35-25 advantage heading into the break.
- The entire second half belonged to the Regents. Rockford led by at least ten points for all but 66 seconds of the half.
- Rockford built its lead up to as many as 19 on two different occasions. Both of those came on Seth Childers buckets at the 6:47 and 5:52 marks.
- The Bucs did have one mini run left in them as they cut the deficit down to 11 points with 4:09 remaining.
- Fortunately, Tre Miller put the game away with his second three-pointer of the night en route to a comfortable 74-62 victory.
