ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team took its first conference win of the season with an 86-84 win over the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. The game was very tight with 10 ties, and 9 lead changes, both teams also held their share of the lead for almost the same amount of time. Rockford and CUW both shot the ball well with a 30-54 (55.6%) day for the Falcons and a 32-62 (51.6%) performance from the Regents. The biggest difference in the game was Rockford's ability to outrebound the Falcons 39-22, including a staggering 14-3 advantage on the offensive glass. Despite this, the game remained tight down the stretch. With the score tied at 84-84,
Jaden Bell came through and gave Rockford the lead with 0.3 seconds left and Rockford eventually closed out for the exciting victory. This marks Rockford's fourth straight win over CUW, the longest win streak over the Falcons in program history.
- Rockford held the early lead after Tre Miller scored 5-straight to give RU the 14-8 lead.
- The Falcons were slowly able to creep back into the game and eventually took the lead at 21-19 with 11 minutes and 31 seconds left in the first half.
- Rockford and CUW battled as each team traded baskets with neither school able to hold more than a one-possession lead over the other, until the Falcons took control at 37-32 late in the first half.
- CUW was able to hold at least a two-possession lead for the rest of the half, leading by as much as eight at 45-37 and eventually taking a 45-39 lead into the break.
- The Falcons came out of the break hot, quickly growing their lead to double digits at 50-39 with just over 19 minutes left in the game.
- CUW maintained control as the game found its way to a 58-50 score, but Rockford was able to cut into the CUW lead with an 8-2 run that cut the lead to 60-58. Rockford shot 4-6 (66.7%) from the field and had four different scorers during the stretch.
- Rockford finally took the lead with 9 minutes and 32 seconds left in the game after Cooper Jackson knocked down two free throws for Rockford to give his team the 64-62 lead.
- The Regents kept it going with an 11-3 run over the next four minutes, including a perfect 7-7 from the line to give Rockford the 74-65 lead with just over five minutes left.
- However, the Falcons were able to fight all the way back with a 19-10 run that allowed CUW to eventually tie the game up with 8 seconds left at 84-84.
- With 0.3 seconds on the clock, Jaden Bell was able to deliver the game-winner for Rockford with a tip-in layup that allowed the Regents to walk away with the thrilling 86-84 win.
