MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team fell 74-55 on the road Saturday afternoon to the defending NACC Champion Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. Rockford hung with the Warriors throughout the first half, but ultimately, Wisconsin Lutheran proved to be too much. The Warriors outscored the Regents 24-15 in the third, while shooting 60% from the field. Throughout the entire game, WLC shot 41.0% from the floor compared to just 26.6% for the Regents. The Warriors also held a commanding 52-32 rebounding advantage and 40-14 edge in points in the paint.
- Rockford opened the game strong by taking an early 7-4 lead. D'Asia Washington made back-to-back buckets, and then Katie Paredes drained a three to give Rockford its largest lead of the game.
- Unfortunately, WLC responded with nine straight points over the next 3 minutes and 35 seconds to take a 13-7 advantage.
- Rockford's Alyssa Havard sent the Regents into the second quarter with a bit of momentum though, as she knocked down a triple to trim the Warrior lead down to 17-13.
- Wisconsin Lutheran began to pull away midway through the second quarter. WLC used a 10-0 run to grab a commanding 29-15 advantage with 6:46 left before halftime.
- Fortunately, the Regents responded with a nice 10-2 spurt of their own to get back within six. Lexi Keating got things started with a three-point basket and Kyla Wilkerson converted a three-point play to make it a 31-25 game at the 1:40 mark.
- The Warriors outscored the Regents 5-0 the rest of the way, including a bucket as time expired, to take a 36-25 lead into the break.
- Unfortunately, WLC outscored RU 24-15 in the third and built their advantage up to as many as 23 points, before taking a 60-40 advantage into the fourth.
- Rockford was unable to get any closer than 18 the rest of the way and fell by a final score of 74-55.
- D'Asia Washington finished with a team-high 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
- Lexi Keating added 7 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal.
- Alyssa Havard chipped in 9 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist off the bench.
