ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team lost in straight sets on Tuesday night to the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys. The Pomeroys were able to take control in the first set (25-10), but Rockford put up a much better fight in sets two and three (25-22, 25-22). The Regents did get out to a lead in each of the three sets, but found it tough to keep it throughout each set, which ultimately led to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods leaving with the win.
- The Regents got out to a slight 5-4 lead in the first set after a kill from Nathan Simons.
- The Pomeroys then went on a big 12-3 run and took a commanding 16-7 lead, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods never looked back after this point and took the first set 25-10.
- The Regents again got out to a set lead, starting out 5-2, with 2 kills each coming from Isaiah Dixon and Connor McNear.
- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods rebounded with an 11-2 run to take a 13-7 lead.
- The Regents were able to bounce back with an 9-5 run to make it a 17-15 game, thanks to multiple Pomeroy errors and 1 kill each from Isaiah Dixon and Joaquin Santillan.
- Rockford continued to keep it close, finding its way to just a 24-22 deficit, but Saint Mary-of-the-Woods was able to close out the set 25-22 and go up 2-0 in the match.
- The Regents, for the third straight set held the lead, this time scoring the first 4 points of the set.
- The Regents held the lead for a good part of the third set, until the Pomeroys were able to muster up a 7-2 run to take a 17-13 lead.
- Rockford was able to keep it close and keep the comeback hopes alive, but the Pomeroys handled business and took the third set 25-22, winning the match in straight sets.
- Isaiah Dixon had a team-high 10 kills on 28 attempts, also recording 1 ace and 1 dig.
- Tsubasa Namai put up 19 assists, 1 ace and 2 digs.
- Connor McNear had 7 kills on just 12 attempts also picking up 1 block.
