WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Rockford University baseball team fell 9-2 on the road Thursday afternoon to Carroll University. Rockford actually outhit the Pioneers 6-5, but Carroll blasted a trio of home runs and took advantage of a few Regent miscues en route to the win. The loss snaps Rockford's two-game winning streak against Caroll and drops the Regents to 3-2 against the Pioneers since the 2016 season.
- Carroll broke the scoreless tie with a pair of back-to-back solo home runs off the bats of Mason Hege and Lane Scott to begin the second and take an early 2-0 lead.
- The Pioneers added another run off just one hit in the fourth, to extend their advantage to 3-0.
- Carroll tacked on three more runs in the sixth, including a two-run home run from Eddie Synek, to make it a 6-0 game.
- Rockford would however finally break through with a single run in the top of the seventh. The Regents strung together back-to-back singles from Zach Fabis and Blaise Mace, and then pushed a run across via an Enrique Melendez Jr. sacrifice fly.
- Unfortunately, the Pioneers responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, despite only recording one hit, to make it 9-1 and essentially put the game out of reach.
- Rockford added a single run in the ninth off a Jake Bilotta sacrifice fly, but it was not enough, as Rockford fell by a final score of 9-2.
