BELOIT, Wis. - The Rockford University baseball team split a doubleheader, winning the first 4-3 and losing the second 11-7 to the Edgewood College Eagles in a Thursday afternoon dual slate. With the first game slated to be a 7-inning game, the Regents were able to get out to a quick lead in the first inning, getting up 4-0 from the get-go, thanks in part to a lead-off swat from

Nate Burdin also delivered a gutsy performance, hurling 6 innings of work, holding the Eagles in check en route to the game one win. The Eagles flipped the script in game two, scoring first and getting out to a 7-0 lead through the first four innings. Rockford did slowly chip away in this game, getting the score within three runs on two separate occasions, but the Eagles were able to add on with a 3-run 9th inning and were able to hold on for the game two win and force the split.

Rockford 4 Edgewood 3
- After a perfect first inning from Nate Burdin to start the day, Rockford started the day off with a bang with a lead-off laser from Jared Herzog to put the Regents up 1-0 and after loading the bases Jake Bilotta was able to drive 1 in with an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game.
- The Regents got two more in the first thanks to Enrique Melendez picking up 2 RBIs on a fielder's choice and error by the Eagles to give Rockford an early 4-0 lead.
- Rockford's starting pitcher Nate Burdin was dealing as well, only allowing two hits through the first 5 innings of work.
- The Eagles were finally able to get on the board with a 3-run top of the 6th, that allowed Edgewood to creep within one at a 4-3 score.
- With the first game slated to be a 7th-inning game, the Regents just needed three outs to get the win and Will Hissong was able to pick up the save and slam the door for the Regents, allowing them to walk away with the 4-3 win in game one.
Edgewood 11 Rockford 7
- Both teams were held in check over the first 2 innings, until in the top of the 3rd the Eagles were able to push 4 runs across on just 4 hits to take a 4-0 lead.
- The Eagles added on with a 3-run top of the 4th to get out to a commanding 7-0 lead.
- Rockford was able to get on the board in the bottom of the 4th with a sacrifice fly by Jake Bilotta to give the Regents their first run of the game.
- The Regents were able to cut into the Edgewood lead in the bottom of the 5th with a 3-run inning thanks to an RBI double by Nate Burdin, an RBI ground out by Joseph Stagowski and an RBI double from Kadin Bergstrom to make it a 7-4 game.
- The Eagles were able to cushion their lead, plating one run in the 7th to take an 8-4 lead.
- The Regents were able to cut the lead again in the bottom of the 8th with an RBI from Zach Duke to make it an 8-5 ball game.
- The Eagles were able to take those runs right back with a 3-run top of the 9th to increase their lead to 11-5 with just 3 outs left for the Regents.
- Rockford did battle in the bottom of the 9th with an RBI double by Kadin Bergstrom to make it 11-6 and then a single by Jake Bilotta to make it 11-7, but the Eagles were able to retire the side and hold on for the win.

Game 1
- Jared Herzog was a triple short of a cycle, with a home run, double and single also picking up an RBI and a run scored.
- Nate Burdin delivered a solid 6.0 innings of work, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs also racking up 3 strikeouts.
- Will Hissong was able to pick up his 3rd save of the season.
- Jake Bilotta had a 2-3 day with 2 singles and an RBI.
Game 2
- Joseph Stagowski was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, also driving in a run.
- Kadin Bergstrom delivered a 3-5 day with 2 doubles and a single, also picking up 2 RBIs.
