MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-22) at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon. Rockford never led in the first or second set, but was out in front for the majority of the third. Unfortunately, the Regents just could not string together enough points throughout the afternoon to come out on top and dropped the match in straight sets. The loss drops Rockford to 5-1 all-time against Wisconsin Lutheran College.
- Rockford quickly fell behind 8-4 to begin the first set.
- Nathan Vana and Isaiah Dixon then each tallied a pair of kills as a part of a 4-2 spurt to pull the Regents back to within two at 10-8.
- However, WLC proceeded to score the next five points to take the largest lead for either team at 15-8.
- Rockford was able to slowly work its way back to within three on a couple of occasions, with the latter following a Josh Albers kill to make it 22-19.
- Unfortunately, the Warriors ran off the final three points to win the first set 25-19.
- The Warriors once again got off to a fast start in the second set with a 14-7 lead.
- The Regents responded with a 7-1 run to pull back within a single point at 15-14. Three different Regents tallied a kill over that span, led by two each from Connor McNear and Joseph Hinckley.
- However, WLC answered right back with a 6-2 spurt of its own and reestablished control of the set.
- Rockford was able to get back to within two at 21-19, but the Warriors scored four of the final six points to win the second set 25-21.
- The third set had a different feel to it early on with Rockford taking a quick 8-4 advantage.
- With Rockford still clinging to a 16-15 lead, the Warriors scored the next five points to take their largest lead in the set.
- Connor McNear would get the Regents back to within one at 23-22, but unfortunately, WLC scored the next two points to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
- Connor McNear led the Regents with 5 kills, a .364 hitting percentage, 2 blocks, 2 digs and an assist.
- Josh Albers tallied 15 assists, 7 digs, 4 kills, 2 blocks and an ace.
- Danny Karpenko had 5 kills, 1 dig, 1 block and 1 ace.
- Da'Quan Bates finished with 10 digs and 4 assists.
