FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Rockford university baseball team fell 11-0 to the Alvernia University Wolves to finish up the spring break trip in Florida for the Regents. Rockford loaded the bases in each of the first two innings, but was not able to take advantage and were held scoreless both times. Alvernia was able to get the scoring started in its half of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead and added on with two separate 5-run innings coming in the 2nd and 4th innings to grab a commanding 11-0 lead. The Regents did fight to the end and had a chance to continue the game, but the Wolves were able to finish Rockford off and walk away with the win via the mercy rule.
- Rockford had a great opportunity to get things started in the top of the 1st, loading the bases after an error, a hit by Jared Herzog and a hit by pitch, but the Regents were unable to push any of those runners home and the game stayed scoreless.
- Alvernia was able to get on the board first off of a bunt single to give the Wolves the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st.
- The Regents again loaded the bases in the top of the 2nd and again could not bring a runner home.
- The Wolves exploded in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a 5-run inning on just 3 hits to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
- Both pitchers settled in for the next inning and a half, until Alvernia was able to get another 5-run inning, this time on 5 hits, in the bottom of the 4th to take a big 11-0 lead.
- Neither was able to add on, though the Wolves threatened with 4 runners left on base over the next 2 innings.
- With the game dwindling down because of the mercy rule Rockford had a chance to cut into the Alvernia lead and continue the game with the bases loaded in the top of the 7th, but the Wolves were able to keep the Regents off the board and win the game 11-0.
- Kadin Bergstrom had a 2-4 day with 2 singles.
- Paul Turelli pitched solid in relief over 2.2 innings, racking up 6 strikeouts and not allowing a run.
