LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team took an impressive 2-0 win over the North Central University Rams in a Saturday afternoon matchup. The Regents held a 21-9 advantage in shots and a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal. Despite this, the first half remained a scoreless battle and neither team was able to find the back of the net. Rockford was quickly able to erase the scoreless tie with a goal in the 56th minute by
Daisy Martinez. The Regents struck again with another in the 65th minute by
Lucie Mapendano and Rockford was able to hold on for the 2-0 victory.
- Rockford tried to grab the early lead multiple times with four shots on goal by the 34th minute with two by Mia Ostler and one each by Bianca Tovar and Jasmine Landberg, but their tries were all saved by the Rams keeper.
- The Regents were able to get two more shots on goal, one by Daisy Martinez and one by Peyton Scott, but again the Rams keeper was able to save both shots to keep the score tied going into the half.
- Rockford was finally able to break the ice in the 56th minute with a goal by Daisy Martinez with Jasmine Landberg assisting her on the play.
- Lucie Mapendano extended the Regents lead with a goal in the 65th minute with Jasmine Landberg again assisting on the play, giving the Regents a 2-0 advantage.
- The Rams tried to cut into the Regent's lead with multiple shots on goal late in the second half, but Rockford keeper Kaeleigh Taylor was able to keep the Rams scoreless.
- Rockford was able to hold off the Rams for the remainder of the game and take the 2-0 victory.
- Daisy Martinez delivered a goal for the Regents, her 8th goal of the season. She also had 4 shots and 3 shots on goal.
- Lucie Mapendano picked up her first goal of the season on her only shot of the game.
- Jasmine Landberg had 2 assists, 5 shots and 3 shots on goal.
- Kaeleigh Taylor had 5 saves and pitched her second straight shutout.
