DECATUR, Ill. - The Rockford Univesity men's soccer team dropped its third straight match to start the season on Friday night by a score of 3-1 at Millikin University. Rockford took its first lead of the season in the 39th minute of the match off
Rejhan Jakupi goal to make it a 1-0 game. Unfortunately, Millikin scored two goals in a 21-second span to grab a 2-1 lead entering the half. Millikin's Michael McFarlane then scored his second goal of the match in the 53rd minute to seal the Big Blue's 3-1 victory. Millikin controlled the majority of the match, outshooting the Regents 30-6 with a 19-3 advantage in shots on goal.
- Rockford University starting goalkeeper Wesley Pritzlaff kept the Regents in the game by stopping the first 12 shots he faced.
- The Regents then capitalized in the 39th minute when Rejhan Jakupi found the high left corner of the net for his first goal of the season. Jakpupi was assisted by Andrew Roth on the play.
- Unfortunately, the Big Blue responded with a pair of goals in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
- Millikin then added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute to make it a 3-1 game.
- Rockford had just one shot the remainder of the match and dropped its second straight meeting against Millikin.
- Rejhan Jakupi scored his first goal of the season on his only shot attempt of the match.
- Andrew Roth finished wtih 2 shots and an assist.
- Wesley Pritzlaff played the first 45 minutes in goal for the Regents and tallied 12 saves.
