LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team took a tough 5-0 loss to the visiting Ripon Red Hawks in a Wednesday night non-conference meeting. Ripon opened the scoring early on Rockford with two first half goals to take an early 2-0 lead. The Red Hawks continued to pressure the Regents in the second half, finishing with a 29-9 advantage in shots, translating into three second-half goals for the Red Hawks. Unfortunately, the Regents found it tough to get things going offensively and Ripon was able to walk out with the 5-0 win.
- The Red Hawks struck first with an early goal in the 6th minute by Andre Robertson who was assisted on the play by Gustavo Herrera to give Ripon the early advantage.
- Rockford tried to equalize the score with four separate shot attempts, but unfortunately none of the tries were successful, keeping the game at a 1-0 deficit.
- Ripon was able to extend its lead in the 32nd minute with another goal to give themselves a 2-0 lead.
- The Regents again threatened after the goal, this time with two shots on goal, one from Bryan Maldonado and one from Rejhan Jakupi, but unfortunately both tries were saved, keeping Rockford scoreless going into the half.
- The Red Hawks were able to increase their lead with two more goals in the 47th and 57th minutes to extend the Ripon lead to 4-0.
- Rockford found it tough to break through offensively and Ripon was able to add one more goal to make it a 5-0 lead and the Red Hawks were able to hold on and walk away with the win.
