DE PERE, Wis. -- The Rockford University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against St. Norbert College on Wednesday evening, marking the first draw in the six meetings between the two teams.
Omar Gutierrez put the Regents up 1-0 with his first career goal in the fourth minute, and Rockford took the 1-0 lead into halftime. The Rockford defense held strong until Ben Swiscionis scored in the 79th minute to tie the match. Neither team scored the rest of the way.
The draw marked Rockford's second in its last three matches against programs that have qualified for the NACC Tournament every season since joining the conference and its third draw of the season.
Gutierrez's goal was Rockford's lone shot of the match.
Wesley Pritzlaff played all 90 minutes in goal and made 13 saves for the Regents.
St. Norbert outshot Rockford, 21-1, and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, with a 1 p.m. match at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
