DE PERE, Wis. -- The Rockford University football team traveled to Wisconsin to face the St. Norbert College Green Knights on Saturday. They head home after losing 61-10.
Gage Hugart started behind center. He finished 18-for-29 for 155 yards through the air.
The Regents had some success running the football.
Kemaurion Richardson led the team with 71 yards on 7 carries, while
William Key followed closely behind with 70 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.
Tight End
Jason Stanfield finished with 5 catches for 49 yards, both which led the team.
Nathaniel Hoyt and
Timothy Bearden both added 3 catches, for 25 and 24 yards respectively.
Joey Alvarez had a career day on the defensive side of the ball, breaking his own record for tackles in a game with 20. He also had 3 tackles-for-loss.
Napoleon Williams had 9 tackles, 2 tackles-for-loss, and a sack.
The Regents got on the board first in this game, scoring on their second drive off of a 39-yard field goal from
Kaden Finnestad. The Green Knights quickly tied the game with a field goal of their own. On Rockford's ensuing possession,
William Key broke away for a 65-yard touchdown to take a 10-3 lead in the first quarter.
It was all St. Norbert for the rest of the game. They tied the game on the their next drive and then scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 31-10 halftime lead.Â
They kept it rolling out of halftime, piling on 27 third quarter points and adding a field goal in the fourth to finish off the Regents 61-10.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they go back up north to take on Concordia Wisconsin at 1 p.m. CDT.
