ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's soccer team took on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in game two of a soccer doubleheader Saturday afternoon. Despite a strong effort from the Regents, the Warriors left on top 3-2.
Wisconsin Lutheran found the back of the net first in the 16th minute.
Rockford answered in the 43rd off of an
Aldair Garcia goal, his first of the season.
This was a physical game all throughout. A total of 4 yellow cards were dished out between both sides.
The score remained deadlocked into halftime. It stayed that way until the Warriors converted twice in the 62nd and 65th minutes. Jesus Ramirez Pabon scored his second goal of the day.
Rockford frantically attempted to mount a comeback.
Jose Lane Mendoza hit pay dirt in the 82nd minute off of a
Devon Hinko throw in to cut the deficit to just 1.Â
In the end there wasn't enough time left for the Regents to tie the game. Wisconsin Lutheran earned the win 3-2.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 8, with a 7 p.m. road game at Benedictine.
