AURORA, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's basketball team finished the Mickey Johnson Tip-Off Classic with a 96-49 loss to Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday evening.
Tre Miller led the team in scoring with 11 points.
DeVon Oregon and
Kamren Hogan added 9 apiece. Miller led the team with 4 assists and senior guard
Jaden Bell paced the team with 6 rebounds.
Rockford trailed early, as the Gusties galloped out to a 18-2 lead. The Regents were able to claw their way back into the game and trailed 35-23 at the half.
Gustavus Adolphus exploded in the second half, starting the period with a 23-5 run. The Regents were able to keep the deficit at right around 30 for a majority of the half, but the Golden Gusties outscored RU 21-7 in the final six minutes to seal their 96-49 win.
The biggest discrepancy was points off turnovers, which GAC led 27-6 for the game. 23 of those came in the second half.
On the evening, the Regents shot 29.5% from the floor and 17.9% from behind the arc.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, for their home opener against Monmouth College at 3 p.m CDT.
