ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University women's basketball team took on the Aurora University Spartans on Saturday afternoon in the Seaver Center. The Spartans got back on the bus with a 95-41 victory.
Te Simpson was the leading scorer for both sides, tallying 23 points. She also snagged 15 rebounds, which completed her fourth double-double of the season.
Katie Paredes also contributed 14 points and 5 boards.
Aurora was in control from the jump. They were lights out from three, knocking down five in the first period. The Spartans held a 29-10 lead heading into the second quarter.
Rockford struggled to break Aurora's full-court press, turning the ball over 20 times in the first half. They struggled shooting it in the second quarter, managing just six points, and headed into the halftime break down 50-16.
The second half was much of the same, as Aurora continued to knock down shots from long-range. They tied a school record with 18 made three-pointers.
The Regents never quit, winning the fourth quarter 15-9, but it wasn't nearly enough as they would eventually fall 95-41.
The Regents will return to action on Friday, Dec. 19, when they host North Central College at 6 P.M. CST in the Seaver Center.
