ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's basketball team fell at the hands of the St. Norbert College Green Knights 73-59 on Wednesday night.
DeVon Oregon put together a stellar all-around game, leading the team in scoring and rebounds with 17 points and 11 boards.
Jaden Bell also added 15 points and 5 rebounds.
The Regents fired out of the gates in this one, jumping out to an early 17-8 lead. Hot shooting was the catalyst behind the run, as Bell and
Luke Stuckey each knocked down a pair of threes during the stretch.
The deficit didn't stay wide for long, as St. Norbert overcame some early shooting woes to fight back into the game. After being ahead throughout the entire half, Rockford took a 30-29 lead into the break.
A different St. Norbert squad came to play in the second half. After struggling offensively and uncharacteristically turning the ball over 11 times before the break, they found their stride in the second.Â
The Green Knights shot a scorching 13-21 from the field in the second half (good for 62%) and only turned the ball over three times. They flipped the game on its head, coming out of the break on a 14-3 run and at one point taking a 17 point lead.Â
Rockford wasn't able to keep up with St. Norbert's shooting, staying around a 10 point deficit for much of the final 10 minutes. They eventually fell 73-59.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when they host Concordia Chicago at 1 P.M. CST at the Seaver Center.
