STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road Tuesday night at UW-Stevens Point. Rockford struggled to find its rhythm offensively for much of the evening, as the Regents tallied just 22 kills in the match. Josh Bowling did tie one school record and break another. Bowling tied the total blocks record with 6 and broke the blocks per set record with 2.0 blocks per set. Unfortunately, the Pointers proved to be too much and won the match 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-19).
- UWSP opened the match by scoring 10 of the first 14 points to take a quick 10-4 lead.
- The Regents were able to cut the deficit in half thanks to a 5-1 spurt of their own. Joseis Dixon and Isaiah Dixon each had a kill to make the score 11-8.
- With Rockford still trailing 18-14, the Pointers ended the set on a 7-2 run to win the set 25-16 and take a 1-0 advantage.
- The Regents took a two-point lead on several occasions early in the second set, the latter coming at 7-5.
- However, Stevens Point ran off the next four points to jump back in front 9-7.
- The Pointers methodically built their lead up to as many as nine and went on to win the set 25-16 and take a 2-0 lead.
- Rockford played much better throughout the third set. The Regents led 4-2 in the opening moments and then led again at 5-4, 7-6 and 8-7.
- With the score now tied at 8-8, the Regents used a 4-1 run to take their largest lead of the match at 12-9. Danny Karpenko jump-started the run with a kill.
- Unfortunately, UWSP promptly went on a 7-2 run of its own to retake the lead at 16-14.
- Rockford was able to get back to within a point twice over the remainder of the match, but it was not enough.
- Stevens Point outscored Rockford 8-3 down the stretch to win the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
- Isaiah Dixon led Rockford with 7 kills, 3 digs, a block and an ace.
- Josh Bowling tied the school record with 6 blocks and broke the RU record averaging 2 blocks per set. Bowling also had 2 kills and 2 digs.
- Joseis Dixon had a team-high 8 digs, 5 kills and a block.
- Tsubasa Namai tallied 11 assists and 8 digs.
