BELOIT, Wis. - The Rockford University baseball team fell 9-3 on the road Thursday evening at Beloit College. After Rockford scored the first three runs of the game, the Bucs responded with nine unanswered runs, including three in the second and in the fifth, to sail off to victory. The Regents had just three hits total in the game and only after the third inning. Conversely, Beloit belted 13 hits, with at least one in every inning except one. The Beloit victory results in the Regents and Bucs splitting the season series.
- Rockford had just one hit in the first inning, but it was a big one. Kadin Bergstrom blasted a two-run home run over the left field wall and gave the Regents an early 2-0 lead.
- The Regents subsequently tacked on another run in the top of the second to extend their lead. After a walk, an error and a stolen base put runners on the corners with no one out, Blaise Mace made it a 3-0 game on a RBI groundout.
- Unfortunately, the Bucs promptly tied the game with a trio of runs in the bottom half of the inning. Beloit used three hits and took advantage of a Regent error to knot the game at 3-3.
- Beloit then added single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh and three more runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
- Rockford had just one hit over the final six innings, a two-out Jake Bilotta triple in the sixth, and thus fell by a final score of 9-3.
