ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's soccer team fell to non-conference opponent Maranatha Baptist, 2-1, Friday evening at Sam Greeley Field.
Rejhan Jakupi put the Regents on the board first with a goal in the 23rd minute. However, Maranatha Baptist equalized in the 41st minute with a goal from Pedro Ribeiro, tying the game 1-1 going into halftime.
In the second half, Maranatha Baptist scored the final goal in the 61st minute, with Matheus Ribeiro netting the goal, assisted by Pedro Ribeiro.
On the evening, Maranatha Baptist held a 17-14 edge in shots, while the Regents had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17, with a 3:00 p.m. CDT game at Sam Greeley Field against Concordia University Chicago.
