ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's basketball team defeated NACC conference opponent Edgewood University, 64-54, on Saturday.
Luke Stuckey scored a season-high 16 points to go along with four rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Kamren Hogan,
Cooper Jackson, and
Jaden Bell also scored in double figures for the Regents. Hogan and Jackson both scored 13 points while Bell totaled 10. Hogan led the Regents on the glass with 10 rebounds to record a double-double.
Both Rockford and Edgewood struggled to score early as the biggest lead in the half was four points for both teams held by the Regents. After a low-scoring defensive struggle in the first half, the Regents led by one at halftime, 26-25.
After the break, the Regents turned it on offensively improving their field goal percentage to 61.90% in the second half, an improvement from their 33.33% shooting performance from the first.
The Regents started the second half on an 11-4 run in the first 6:05 of action. The Eagles made their attempt at regaining the lead, trimming the deficit to two at 48-46 with 5:07 left, but a late surge fended off a comeback attempt from the Eagles.
Rockford shot 43.9% on the afternoon and dominated the glass, outrebounding Edgewood 45-26.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7, when they will play at Concordia University Chicago at 7 p.m. CST.
