Men's Basketball Surges Past Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's basketball team powered past NACC conference opponent Concordia University Chicago, 65-52, on Wednesday. 

Jaden Bell and Kamren Hogan each notched double-doubles. They Both scored 10 points, while Bell had 11 rebounds and Hogan had 10. Cooper Jackson led the Regents in scoring with 12 points while also coming down with five rebounds. Luke Stuckey scored 11 points. 

CUC only saw the lead once all night when they scored the first bucket of the game to take a 2-0 lead. 

The Regents took the lead after a Jackson layup to take a 4-2 lead as they never trailed the remaining of the game. 

The largest lead in the first half for the Regents was 11 when they had a 19-8 advantage. 

CUC made a late first-half surge, outscoring the Regents 18-10 to trim the deficit to three, making the lead for the Regents 29-26 at halftime. 

The Regents came out firing right away out of the halftime break, going on an 11-0 run in the first 3:46 in the second half, to take a 40-26 lead. 

CUC kept fighting bringing the deficit back down to single digits trailing 46-37 with 10:21 remaining; but the Regents kept their foot on the gas to go on a 12-2 spurt to win their second straight conference game. 

The Regents shot 41.7% on the evening and outrebounded the Cougars 47-31.

The Regents will return back to non-conference action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when they will host Maranatha Baptist University at 2 p.m. CST.
