ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University women's basketball team took on the Edgewood University Eagles at the Seaver Center on Saturday afternoon. Edgewood was able to earn the victory 66-49.
Katie Paredes ran the show, putting up 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. She also snagged 4 steals.
Te Simpson was the other Regent in double figures, contributing 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Rockford was able to score the first basket of the game and were within one point halfway through the initial period. From that point, Edgewood reeled off a 16-1 run to give themselves some cushion and eventually take a 34-19 lead into the half.
The third quarter was one of the best of the season for Rockford. They went 7-13 from the floor and outscored the Eagles 21-14 to roar back into the ballgame.
The Regents cut the lead to six early in the fourth off of a
Nia Wilkerson jumper. The Eagles halted the comeback from there, going on their own 14-0 run and taking the game 66-49.
The Regents wil return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7, when they take on Concordia University Chicago for the second time this year at 7 P.M. in the Seaver Center.
