ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's basketball team defeated NACC conference opponent Lakeland University, 87-60, on Saturday at the Seaver Center.
Jaden Bell and
Kamren Hogan each scored a season-high in points, both scoring 26 and 24 respectively. Bell had a near double-double with nine rebounds and added five assists and one steal. Hogan came down with eight rebounds along with four assists and two steals.
Cooper Jackson added 10 points and
Adrian Agee came off the bench with 17 points.
Tre Miller led the team in assists with six.
Lakeland started out hot shooting from beyond the perimeter with five three-point baskets in the first 6:33 of the first half to take a 23-15 lead.
The Muskies stayed hot as their lead stayed at seven points with 7:16 remaining. The Regents then exploded to go on a 19-1 run to end the half, taking a 46-35 lead at halftime.
Luke Stuckey started the second half with a three pointer which was part of a 19-4 run in the first 4:51 of the second half as Rockford extended its lead to 26, leading 65-39.
The closest Lakeland trimmed the deficit to was 16 points with 6:48 remaining, trailing 74-58, but the Regents responded with a 13-2 run to seal it to improve their record to (10-9, 7-5) on the season.
On the afternoon, the Regents shot 55.7% from the floor and 33.3% from three. They also dominated the glass outrebounding the Muskies 42-24 on the day.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. CST when they will face Aurora University on the road in NACC action.
