ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell in three sets to familiar conference foe Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday night.
Freshman outside hitter
Lilly Dewey led the squad in kills with seven.
Milee Law continued her stretch of pacing the team in assists, finishing the match with nine.
Two Regents split the digs crown.
Isabella Valdes and
Leila Cooks each had five, while Dewey pitched in four of her own.
It was a one-sided first set. Rockford held a 1-0 lead but never got it back. Fresh off a NACC tournament appearance in 2025, the Warriors played like it in the first frame. They made their presence felt with a 25-11 win.
The second set was a change of pace. The Regents came out with a different energy, firing on all cylinders and jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Then WLC found their footing. The Warriors went on a 22-9 run, one point away from their second set win. RU didn't go down without a fight and rallied off five points in a row before finally falling, 25-21.
Down two sets, Rockford were unable to muster one last big punch. Punctuated by a 7-0 run in the middle of the frame, Wisconsin Lutheran rode a 25-14 third set victory into a three set sweep.
The Regents will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they host Alverno at 7 p.m. in the Seaver Center.
