ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's soccer continued its stretch of defense-first soccer with a 0-0 tie against the Benedictine University Eagles on Wednesday evening. The Regents have given up just one goal across their last three matches, all against conference opponents, and haven't lost a match over that span.
Both offenses had their chances in this matchup. The Eagles led both sides in shots, 21-11, and in shots on goal, 7-1.Â
The reigning NACC Defensive Player of the Week,
Wesley Pritzlaff, erased every shot on goal that came his way. He finished with seven saves.
The Regents best chance came about a third of the way into the first period.
Devon Hinko sent a missile toward the back right post, but it was brilliantly saved by Raul Jasso.
The defenses prevailed as neither squad would find the back of the net.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, for Senior Day against the Lakeland Muskies. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., immediately following the women's match.
