MONTGOMERY, Ill. -- The Rockford University baseball team fell short to NACC conference opponent Edgewood University, 7-5, during the first round of the NACC Tournament on Tuesday.
This was the final game of the 2026 Rockford baseball season—thank you to everyone who supported throughout the year.  Â
Edgewood 7, Rockford 5
Nate Burdin,
Kadin Bergstrom, and
Zach Duke all had two hits along with an RBI each.
Marcus Taylor had two RBIs to lead the team.Â
Alex Easton started on the hill with 3 2/3 innings of work allowing three runs off seven hits while striking three batters out.
Logan Koeller came in for Easton in the fourth and threw for 2 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, four hits, with four strikeouts. Fabis came in for relief and also pitched for the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed no runs with one hit and a strikeout.Â
An RBI single to right field put the first run on the board for Edgewood in the second inning and plated another run in the third with an RBI single to center field to go up 2-0.Â
Bergstrom put Rockford on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to left center.Â
The Eagles then knocked an RBI double to right center to go up 3-1 as their bats continued to heat up going into the fifth scoring three more runs with an RBI single, RBI triple, and plating one more run with a fielder's choice to drive in another run. In the sixth, Carter Kelly for Edgewood homered to right center to extend the Eagle lead, 7-1.Â
The Regents did storm back in the seventh scoring four runs started off with an RBI single to second base from Duke, an RBI single up the middle from Burdin, and two-RBI single from Taylor as Rockford pulled to within two, 7-5. All these runs came with two outs.Â
Unfortunately for the Regents, they were unable to generate anymore offense as Edgewood was able to fend off Rockford's comeback efforts.Â
