WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Rockford University men's soccer team took on the Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats on Saturday, leaving with a 2-0 victory.
The Regents wasted almost no time getting going.
Jose Lane Mendoza scored in the 3rd minute, his third goal of the season. The finish came off of a
Rejhan Jakupi assist.
Up 1-0, Rockford found the back of the net again in the 25th minute. This time it was
Ian Jurgensen coming through off of a
Thomas Pollack setup.
Maranatha managed three shots in the first half, but never found the net. The score was 2-0 at the half.
Holding that two goal lead, the Regents locked down defensively. They didn't allow the Sabercats to get off a shot in the entire second half.
Wesley Pritzlaff was safe and sound in goal, with both of his saves coming in the first period.
No more goals would come across in the game. Rockford avenged its loss to Maranatha a year ago, winning 2-0.
The Regents will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 16, traveling to River Forest for a 2 p.m. meeting with Concordia University Chicago.
