APPLETON, Wis. -- The Rockford University men's soccer team opened the season with a 1-1 draw against Lawrence University on Wednesday evening.
Dasha Curiel scored in the 16th minute to give the Regents a 1-0 lead. Rockford held the advantage through halftime and into the second half before Lawrence's Grayson Ogren scored to tie the match.
Curiel recorded five of Rockford's six shots, while
Jose Lane Mendoza had the other attempt.
Wesley Pritzlaff started in goal and played all 90 minutes for the Regents, making eight saves and allowing one goal.
Lawrence outshot Rockford 11-6 and held a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 5, with a 6 p.m. match at Waldorf University.
