- The Rockford University athletic department was founded in 1955.
- Rockford University first competed in as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) before joining the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the 1983-84 academic year.Â
- Rockford sponsors 17Â intercollegiate varsity teams (8Â men's teams and 9Â women's teams) and several junior varsity teams, which compete at the NCAA Division III level.
- On average, approximately one-third of Rockford University students participate in intercollegiate athletics.
- Many student-athletes compete in two sports and some compete in three.
- Rockford University athletes compete at several facilities on campus including, Sam Greeley Field (football, soccer and women's flag football), the Seaver Center (basketball and volleyball) and Regent Fields (baseball and softball).

- The NACC is among the largest conferences in the nation with 14Â member schools: Rockford University, Alverno College, Aurora University, Benedictine University, Concordia University Chicago, Concordia University Wisconsin, Dominican University, Edgewood College, Illinois Tech, Lakeland University, Marian University, MSOE, St. Norbert College and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
- Rockford is centrally located in the conference, limiting travel to approximately 3.5 hours for our longest trip, ensuring minimal missed class time.  Â
- The NACC sponsors 21Â sports, 11Â for men and 10Â for women, each with an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championships for the conference champions.
- The NACC began in 2006 with 12 founding members, including Rockford University.
