MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team (2-11, 0-2) fell 3-0 on the road Wednesday evening to the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (4-4, 2-0 NACC). Rockford played progressively better in each set, but unfortunately, the Regents were not quite able to pull out a win, falling 25-13, 25-16, 25-18. However,
Connor McNear turned in an outstanding offensive performance and shattered a school record in the process. McNear smashed home 8 kills with 0 attack errors on 15 total attempts and broke the Rockford University school record with a .533 hitting percentage.
- Concordia Wisconsin scored the first six points of the match and then jumped out to a quick 8-1 lead.
- Rockford briefly made it a five-point game at 9-4 following a Connor McNear kill, but the Falcons promptly scored the next three points to retake control of the set.
- CUW would extend its lead to as many as 12 points en route to a 25-13 win.
- The second set got off to a much better start, as Rockford took an early 4-2 advantage. Jose Padron delivered back-to-back kills to put Rockford out in front for the first time in the match.
- With the Regents still holding a 7-5 lead, the Falcons used an 11-1 run to seize control of the second set.
- Unfortunately, Rockford was never able to get any closer than seven the remainder of the way and dropped the second set by a final score of 25-16.
- Rockford again had a solid start to the third set, with the Regents taking an early 7-5 lead. Jose Padron, Josh Albers and Connor McNear all had kills for Rockford over that span.
- However, just like in the previous set, the Falcons used a 10-3 run to catapult themselves back in front, 15-10.
- The Regents were able to cut the deficit back down to four on two different occasions off kills from Danny Karpenko and Da'Quan Bates.
- Unfortunately, the Falcons closed the match with an 8-5 run to win the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
- Connor McNear led the Regents with 8 kills and 0 errors on 15 attack attempts. McNear also broke the school record with an impressive .533 hitting percentage.
- Jose Padron also finished with 8 kills, 4 blocks and 3 digs.
- Josh Albers had 23 assists, 8 digs, 1 block and 1 kill.
