ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team took a 3-0 win over Knox College in a Tuesday night matchup. The Regents led in nearly facet of the game leading in kills (35-29), aces (4-1), assists (32-28), and digs (90-88). Rockford was able to take control of the match, take the first three sets (25-18), (25-19), (25-23) and win the match in straight sets 3-0. This was the Regents first win over Knox College since September 2007, which was also a 3-0 Regent victory.
- The Regents got out to a hot start in the first set starting out 5-0 with 2 kills from Tamsy Leverton and 1 from Alexis Brashaw.
- The Regents went on a 15-7 run to take the lead in the match 20-12.
- Rockford was able to secure the final 5 points they needed in the first set with 2 kills from Amelia Rodriguez and Melody Moreno.
- The second set was more back and forth with the Regents taking a 12-9 advantage to start.
- The Regents were able to get the better of Knox College 13-10 and take the second set 25-19 and improve the overall match score to 2-0 Rockford.
- The third set also started back and forth with Knox College actually taking a 7-5 lead over Rockford to start with the Regents getting help from 2 kills by Melody Moreno and 1 by Alexis Brashaw.
- This set found its way to a 17-12 Regent lead off of 2 aces by Brynn Atwell and a kill each from Alexis Brashaw, Melody Moreno and Tamsy Leverton.
- The third set became all square 23-23 after 4 straight scores from the Prairie Fire, but the Regents were able to get an ace and a kill from Alexis Brashaw to take the third set 25-23 and win the overall match 3-0.
