RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team dropped its final NACC road match of the season 3-0 on Saturday afternoon to the Dominican University Stars. Rockford was unable to find its rhythm offensively for most of the day, falling 25-14, 25-15 and 25-17. The loss drops the Regents to 0-3 against Dominican in the program's four-year history.
- Dominican scored the first six points of the match, as a part of a 10-2 run to seize control of the first set.
- Rockford never got any closer than six the rest of the way and lost the first set 25-14.
- The Regents played much better in the opening moments of the second set. Rockford scored three of the first four points off kills from Joaquin Santillan and Josh Albers, to take an early 3-1 advantage.
- With Rockford still out in front 8-7, the Stars used a 10-3 run to take their first lead in the set, at 17-11.
- The Regents were able to trim the deficit back down to four, but unfortunately, Dominican closed on a 8-2 run to win the set 25-15 and take a 2-0 advantage.
- Although Rockford never led in the third, the Regents battled hard and kept it close for much of the way.
- Dominican jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Rockford scored four of the next five points to tie the score at 4-4.
- With the Regents now trailing 9-7, the Stars used a 7-3 spurt to take the largest lead thus far in the set for either team, at 16-10.
- Rockford was able to get back within four at 17-13, but unfortunately, Dominican finished the match with an 8-4 run to take the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
