LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford men's soccer team would grab its first win over the Monmouth Fighting Scots in a great all-around 2-0 victory for the Regents. Rockford would dominate the game leading in shots 20-4, shots on goal 10-1, and corner kicks 7-2. The Regents would get things going early on a header goal by
Abraham Gonzalez in the 5th minute, on a beautiful pass from
Matt Polovin off of a free kick, giving the Regents an early 1-0 lead. Later on
Baruani Kamangila would also find the back of the net with a header off of a pass from
Abraham Gonzalez in the 24th minute making it 2-0 Regents. This would be all they needed with the final score being 2-0 Regents.
- Regents would start early on a header goal from Abraham Gonzalez, on a great pass from Matt Polovin in the 5th minute to put the Regents up 1-0
- Abraham Gonzalez and Baruani Kamangila would both fire shots in the 16th and 18th minutes but those chance were denied by the Monmouth goalie.
- Kamangila would find the back of the net shortly after on another header goal for the Regents making the score 2-0 in the 24th minute.
- Abraham Gonzalez would have another chance in the 44th minute with a shot on goal, but the chance was saved.
- Francesco Stoner would try to add on for the Regents with a shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but that chance would be saved as well.
- The Fighting Scots would have their first shot on goal in the 76th minute, but that chance was denied by Regent goalkeeper Andrik Vidaurri keeping the score 2-0 Regents with 14 minutes to play.
