ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 Tuesday night in a NACC meeting with the Edgewood College Eagles. Rockford had a tough night getting things going consistently, falling behind early in the first and third sets. The Regents did put up a good battle in the second set, leading 10-6 at one point, but were not able to keep it going. The Eagles were able to go on runs when they needed to and won each set with scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-16 allowing them to walk away with the win.
- Edgewood took control of the first set getting out to a 9-2 lead.
- Rockford was able to creep within four points with a 7-4 run thanks to a kill each coming from Josh Albers, Joseph Hinckley and Nathan Simons.
- The Regents were not able to overcome the hot start by the Eagles and dropped the first set 25-17.
- Rockford got out to a 7-4 lead in the second set with 2 kills by Nathan Simons and 1 by Josh Albers to open things up.
- The Regents were able to keep their lead until Edgewood was able to score four straight points and take a 13-12 lead.
- Each team traded points to a 17-17 score until the Eagles were able to score 8 straight points to finish the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Eagles got out to a 9-2 start like they did in the first set.
- The Regents were able to battle back within five points to a 13-8 score after multiple errors by the Eagles but then went on a 5-1 run and took a commanding 18-9 lead.
- Rockford did slow the Eagles down, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit and Edgewood was able to take the third set 25-16 and walk away with the 3-0 match win.
