LISLE, Ill. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road Wednesday night to the Benedictine University Eagles. Rockford was unable to find its groove offensively for most of the evening and the Eagles were able to capitalize. Benedictine led for the majority of the match and went on to win by final scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-13.
- Benedictine jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead to start the first set, but Rockford answered right back with a 5-1 run to tie it up. Tsubasa Namai and Isaiah Dixon smashed back-to-back kills to lead the RU attack.
- Unfortunately, the Eagles went on a 17-2 run to close things out and take the first set 25-10.
- Rockford opened the second set with a 4-1 run to take its first lead of the match.
- Benedictine proceeded to score the next six points to jump out in front 7-4.
- With the Eagles still holding a slim 8-7 edge, Benedictine scored seven of the next eight points to a commanding 15-8 lead.
- The Regents were unable to get any closer than four the rest of the way and dropped the second set 25-16.
- Rockford found themselves in a quick 7-1 hole to begin the third set.
- The Regents were able to claw their way back to within four at 10-6, but unfortunately, Benedictine promptly used a 9-1 spurt to seize control of the set and the match.
- Nathan Simons briefly brought Rockford back to within nine at 22-13 with his second kill of the match.
- However, the Eagles scored the final three points to win the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
