Regents Drop Both to #20 UW-Stevens Point

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University softball team dropped two tough games 5-1 and 7-0 to the #20 ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers in a Wednesday afternoon non-conference meeting. The Pointers were able to score quickly in game one, giving them an early 2-0 lead and the Regents found it tough to get the offense going against the UW-Stevens Point pitching. UW-Stevens Point was able to plate another run in the third inning to make it a 3-0 game and two more in the 7th to take a 5-0 lead. Rockford did fight until the end, plating a run in the bottom of the 7th, but the Pointers were able to hold on and take game one. In the second game, the Pointers scored early again, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning and the Regent offense was held in check for most of the game. The Pointers were able to push six runs across in the fourth inning and then one more in the sixth to make it a 7-0 game, eventually holding on for the game-two win.
