ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced Tuesday morning that Rockford University junior outfielder
Joseph Stagowski has been selected as the NACC Baseball Position Player of the Week. This marks the first time that Stagowski has received a weekly award from the NACC, and he is also the first RU baseball player to be named the conference's position player of the week since the 2020 season (Christian Garcia).
Joseph Stagowski was instrumental in leading Rockford to a 3-1 record in NACC play last week. He began by going 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs, including a walk-off home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh, in a 6-5 win over Concordia Chicago. He then went 3-for-5 with another home run in Rockford's sweep of St. Norbert on Saturday. Stagowski posted a .500 batting average, a .600 on-base percentage, a 1.250 slugging percentage, had 3 home runs, scored 7 runs, drove in 4 runs, stole a base, walked twice and was hit by a pitch in Rockford's four games last week.
The RU baseball team looks to improve upon its current sixth place position in the NACC standings when the Regents travel to Marian University on Wednesday, April 24. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 PM in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
