MADISON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell in straight sets on Thursday night at Edgewood College. The Regents played excellent in the second set, but struggled to get much of anything going in the first and third sets. Rockford had 15 kills and only 3 errors for a .444 hitting percentage in that second set. Unfortunately, Rockford dropped its only set point in the match, which came at 24-23, and then surrendered the next three points en route to losing the match 25-13, 26-24, 25-13.
- Rockford scored the fist two points of the match with the latter coming on an Isaiah Dixon kill.
- Dixon continued to lead the RU offense with his second kill of the match to tie the score at 5-5.
- However, the Eagles began to take control of the set by going on a 7-1 run and grabbing a 12-6 advantage.
- Rockford briefly got back to within four at 12-8, but the Eagles easily took the first set 25-13.
- The second set was incredibly entertaining from start to finish. There were a total of eight lead changes and 13 ties over the 50 points.
- Rockford's largest lead came early on in the set when Tsubasa Namai capped off a 4-0 RU run with an ace to put his team out in front 6-3.
- After that, neither team led by more than two, until Edgewood took its largest lead of the set at 19-16 with their third service ace of the set.
- With the Eagles still holding a 23-20 advantage, Rockford scored four straight, including a pair of kills by Isaiah Dixon, to take a 24-23 lead.
- Unfortunately, Rockford was unable to convert its one and only set point of the match, as Edgewood ran off the next three points to take the second set 26-24.
- The third set mirrored the first with Rockford unable to get much of anything going.
- Rockford fell behind early 8-3 and then allowed the Eagles to score seven straight points midway through the set to grab a 19-8 advantage.
- Edgewood would go on to win the third set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
- Isaiah Dixon finished with a match-high 11 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. He also had 3 service aces, 3 assists and 2 digs.
- Josh Albers had 10 assists, 9 digs and 4 kills.
- Tsubasa Namai tallied 7 assists, 4 digs, 2 aces and 2 kills.
